FRG Presents at 2018 Canadian Risk Forum

Representatives from FRG’s leadership team will present at the 2018 Canadian Risk Forum, planned next week in Toronto, Canada, bringing their expertise in machine learning, risk management and data governance / analytics to an audience of senior risk professionals and industry experts.

Dr. Dessa Glasser, Dr. Jimmie Lenz and Jonathan Leonardelli are speaking at this year’s conference. Hosted by the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association (PRMIA), the conference will focus on the “Changing Landscape of Risk Management,” and will cover such topics as:

  • The changing roles of financial risk management;
  • Emerging Risks, including non-financial risks such as conduct, culture and cybersecurity;
  • The role of technology and data and how their tools are evolving for risk managers.

Jonathan Leonardelli, FRG’s Director of Business Analytics, will lead a discussion on “Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence: An Introduction” at the conference’s sold-out pre-forum workshop on Monday, Nov. 12. Leonardelli, MFM, FRM, leads the group responsible for model development, data science projects, documentation, testing, and training. He has provided technical and modeling expertise to multiple machine learning and AI initiatives within the firm. Leonardelli is a contributor to the FRG blog and an author of the company’s new series on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, “New Machinist’s Journal.”

Dr. Jimmie Lenz, FRG Principal, will present “Measuring and Detecting Risk Exposures Using ML and AI Techniques,” and will also give Monday afternoon’s closing remarks. Lenz is an experienced executive, lecturer and scholar in the field of banking and capital markets. Lenz frequently presents on strategic and tactical planning, risk mitigation and business efficiencies, and this year began teaching a class on Financial Innovation as an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business. He is a contributor to the FRG blog and an author of the “New Machinist Journal” series.

Dr. Dessa Glasser, FRG Principal, will speak at the “Data Governance, Data Analytics, User of Data, Data Availability” session on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Glasser, recently named an Independent Member of the Board of Directors for Oppenheimer Holdings Inc., has a 30-year track record designing and implementing innovative solutions and organizations in risk, data, and analytics. She focuses on data and regulatory solutions. Before joining FRG, Glasser served as CDO for JPMorgan Chase, where she launched firm-wide Capital Stress Testing Analytics and built the Chief Data Office for Asset Management. She recently wrapped up a six month series on data strategies for the FRG blog.
