SAS Global Forum 2012

SAS Global Forum 2012
The SAS Global Forum was held in Orlando this year. The forum is intended for SAS users to come together and exchange ideas and explore ways of using SAS software. It is an excellent educational and networking event that started in 1975. There are two categories of paper presented. Technology solutions papers that focus on SAS software, tips and useful techniques and industry solution papers that are specific to industries like health care providers and retailers. They also have sections on SAS futures, IT management and a workshop series on SAS software.
This year Ron Holanek, Remya Vikram, BJ Granack, and Avery Long attended the event. The employees were able to attend at least one lecture for each section of the FRG Holy Trinity. To brush up on their Reporting, they attended a lecture on “ODS PDF and RTF Application Development”. For Analytics, they went to a presentation on the paper for “Global Risk Management: Diverse Financial Regulations”. And to get a little Data Management knowledge, they caught the “The New SAS® Programming Language: DS2” lecture.
The employees also registered users, defined roles, and granted permissions with SAS Management Console 9.3 in a platform administration workshop. They developed data-driven programming skills in another workshop. Finally, they took a deep dive into Data Integration Studio with a two part workshop where we explored properties of the tool, parameterized job creation and metadata objects.
